Retroactive Blog, Part III, December 15th to 21st

Ah, the final week of school before the Winter Holiday. I only had to make it through the Spelling Bee on Monday to feel like I was truly coasting down the holiday hill. I stayed up for hours the night before listening to pronunciations of all 300 words at dictionary.com only to knock out most of the contestants in the first round and having the championship word be "Frankenstein". Whew.

The week was spent prepping for the holidays and getting the remainder of the decorations up. Our neighborhood is known for its Christmas lights. Our cul de sac has a theme and in days of yore, everyone went all out. This year with the economy, the hurricane and the short span between Thanksgiving and Christmas put a bit of a damper on the ol' hood but as you can see, we are in the spirit as our some of our neighbors (we're the house on the left). We even won "Best Religious Display" for our angels in the circle.

This weekend Miss F and I made Christmas cookies. She enjoyed eating the decorations more than the act of decorating. The photo of Miss F and Sheba just cracks me up--it's like a holiday verison of the Coppertone Ad. As you can see, taking off her PJs in the middle of the night is not the only time my child strips off her clothes. Basically if she's in the house, she's underwear only.

Miss F was invited to be an angel in the church Christmas Pageant again. Last year, she was a little angel, this year she was an angel in disguise. She refused to go up to the manger. She cried. She said that she was hungry and demanded that if we didn't feed her she'd DIE, she'd grow smaller and smaller and DIE. You can see from the photo with her halo askew and constipated look, this was one diva who was not happy with the contract her agent negotiated for her. Sigh.
