We don't like Ike!

So, I will try to update this as one of the ways to keep track of the B Family. At this point, the plan is to, as they say 'round these parts, "hunker down". We have food. We have water. We have books and flashlights. We're ready to play rousing rounds of Candyland when the power goes out (Miss F is currently parked in front of the TV to absorb as much as she can before it's gone for a day or two). We are the only house on our cul de sac with gas stove and the neighbors are looking to us for their daily coffee fix via boiled water on our stove.

As scary as a hurricane is, there's this certain part of me that is strangely fascinated by it all. To have something form out of nothing--just some water and air and pressure. It's amazing. To get power out of something we breathe each day and to be scared (and rightly so) of something we get out of the faucet and drink is just so cool, in a holy-crap sort of way.
