Ode to an iPod

Where you have the original, the nano, a pink one or even an MP3 other than iPod, you gotta love 'em. I had some time today to clean the house up (it had reached Defcon-5 when even a Messy Bessie as myself cannot stand it anymore) while Mr. B and Miss F had Daddy-Daughter bonding in the backyard and I was able to pop my earbuds in and enjoy some time with my iPod. It used to be that I would walk-run-stroll the 'hood with my iPod blaring but lately I walk with a friend (which is great and good for the soul) but sometimes I go weeks without listening to my tunes. When I put it on shuffle, I get to hear the themesong to the TV show "My Two Dads", "Amarillo by Morning", my jr. prom theme "Almost Paradise" and every once in awhile a Christmas song (which I skip as it's still a bit early for that). While listening today I heard a song by Bowling For Soup and I just had to post the lyrics. I believe I've posted Bowling for Soup lyrics again and I have to say, I have not met a Bowling for Soup song that I don't love. This one just seems so, I don't know, apropos with the start of the school year and listening to friends lately.

Four years you think for sure
That's all you have to endure
All the total d---
All the stuck up chicks
So superficial, so immature
Then when you graduate
You take a look around and say HEY WAIT
This is the same place where I just came from
I thought it was over
Aw that’s just great

The whole damn world is just as obsessed
With who‘s the best dressed and who‘s having sex,
Who‘s got the money, who gets the honeys,
Who‘s kinda cute and who‘s just a mess
And you still don’t have the right look
And you don’t have the right friends
Nothing changes but the faces,
the names, and the adress
High school never ends

Check out the popular kids
You’ll never guess what Jessica did
How did Mary Kate lose all that weight
And Katie had a baby so I guess tom’s straight
And the only thing that matters
Is climbing up that social ladder
Still care about your hair or the car you drive
Doesn’t matter if you’re sixteen or thirty-five

Reese Witherspoon,
She’s the prom queen
Bill Gates,
Captain of the chess team
Jack Black, the clown
Brad Pitt, the quarterback
I’ve seen it all before
I want my money back

The whole damn world is just as obsessed
With who‘s the best dressed and who‘s having sex,
Who‘s got the money, who gets the honeys,
Who‘s kinda cute and who‘s just a mess
And I still don’t have the right look
And I still have the same three friends
And I’m pretty much the same as I was back then
High school never ends

PS--we had a great weekend. The weather was gorgeous (though it could've gone down even a few more degrees to make me in autumnal bliss), Miss F had dance class and attended 2 birthday parties (at the same gymnastic venue--4 hours of gymnastics--guess who slept well last night?). We had breakfast at IKEA this a.m. and did a bit of browsing to find furniture to outfit our new guest room (it's off the detached garage so if you want to come stay, you get your own little abode out of the craziness of our household)
