Road Trip, Day 2

Day 2 dawned much later than Day 1. We woke up, got packed and headed to Panera for some bagels and a schmear. We took our goodies back to Meg and Rob's place for a quick breakfast before they got about their day and we headed to our next stop. Des Moines, Iowa.

The trip from KC-K to Des Moines is again an easy, straight shot up I-35. We stopped in Des Moines to meet another friend from El Paso who has since moved to Omaha, Nebraska. She drove over with her son and nephew to meet us for lunch (and to go to an amusement park and living history farm). We ate at Applebee's and caught up. It was great to see her again and to see her son! He was a bitty baby when I left El Paso. That's a photo of Brenda and I in front of Applebee's. I'm not sure you can get a better slice of Americana than to be at an Applebee's in Iowa.

We made good time from Des Moines to Hudson, Wisc. (short of a little traffic jam on 494 over the Mississippi). The Wolf family was ready with dinner and Leinie's upon our arrival. Ahhhhh....Wisconsin.
