Road Trip, Day 1

The first day of our road trip to Wisconsin dawned bright and early. Actually, it started before dawn. We woke up and got on the road at 5 a.m. Miss F was a limp noodle when I carried her out of bed to the car. The theory being that we'd get in a couple hours of driving while she slept. The minute I clicked the belt in her carseat, her eyes popped open and she said "Are we going to KaKonsin? Is this a road trip?"

Needless to say, we broke into the "Magic Backpack" early that morning to start the endless entertainment. Miss F was a fabulous traveler. She'd watch a video, then I'd dig something out of the "Magic Backpack" and she'd do stickers or color or read a book.

We stopped in Norman, OK for lunch at the Mall. We wanted to get out and stretch our legs, clear our heads and let the wee one run free. We ate Chick-Fil-A and then Miss F played on the indoor playground.

We made it to Overland Park, KS and were able to meet up with friends of mine from El Paso days who had since moved back to Boston and then on to Kansas. It's been nine years since I saw them but it was like a day hadn't passed. Well, except they have 2 kids and we have one. That's a bit different.

Back to the hotel for some rest before heading up I-35 for an arrival in Wisconsin
