The Dilemma

As we head into the 2nd semester, my mind turns to summer and summer vacation plans. We head to AZ for a visit in March (Spring Break). We're looking forward to hiking and hanging out with Mimi and Papa and Mr. B is excited to get his picture taken on the set of the movie "Three Amigos" (at Old Tucson Studios).

We hope to make it to Laguna Beach, California (2x's for me as Girls Weekend is in San Fran this year) . We're hoping to combine that with Miss F's first visit to Disneyland. We also want to make it up nort' and here's the dilemma. We've talked about doing a road trip and then staying about a week. This would take place in July more than likely. I really want to go for the State Fair but due to school start times here in TX, there's no way to go for the Fair unless we go for Labor Day weekend and a short 3-day trip. What to do? What to do? Miss the Fair but get a longer stay, perhaps take the fam to N. Minnesota or further afield into Wisco? Or come for the Fair and have a short and sweet trip? I wish I could do both but alas, alas, the pocketbook and couldn't handle both. Sigh.

Speaking of short and sweet....the weekend was defintely a quick ride. We watched "Notes on a Scandal" on Friday night. Saturday found us (Miss F and I) at the Houston Museum of Natural Science with Mr. A and his mom. We had dinner with friends (and played Scrabble, cross that off the 101 things to do in 1,0001 days!). Today we watched Miss F's friend Miss B and went to the park.

Dilemna Solved! Come up in the end of July and hit the WI state fair on the way home ( July 31-August 10th) and I will join you there.. Think about it. Leinenkugels, cream puffs, chocacolate milk and brats!!!

Wisconsin state fair BLOWS! Mike and I went to it while we were in Illinois, thinking it would give us a taste of home, but not even close!

You should come to MN/WI with the fam for the longer period of time, and then switch your girls' weekend destination from San Francisco to MN for the state fair. That would be awesome- much better than Ghiradelli square, golden gate, napa valley wine country, blah, blah, blah... California, Schmalifornia!

Dear Jeny,
My vote is for San Francisco and the California State Fair in Sacramento. Then you can see Madeline's new baby.
Love,
Aunt Linda B.
p.s. Prayers have been answered and little A. does not have Muscular Dystrophy!
