Snow Day sans Snow

My school jumped the gun and cancelled school--alas, the ice storm didn't reach us in Houston. But, do not fret--I'm taking the day for myself. I've done nothing but check/return emails, watch 'Days of Our Lives' (and soon will watch last night first ep of "The Hills, Season II"), work out and read. Oh, yeah, Miss F has daycare today (if you were wondering how I got all the above done)

Yesterday she had daycare, too, but yesterday I organized closets. Not a task I enjoy and definitely not 'me time'.

I did go to The Galleria today to the Apple Store. My iPod is dead. Only 1 year old (but mere weeks out of warranty, naturally). I guess I have to go music-less for awhile as I don't think iPods grow on trees (nor does money). I was very depressed about this (and depressed that I can't afford anything at said Galleria) but I walked through the mall to Borders and felt better. Ah, books. Lovely, inexpensive (sorta--especially if you look at the new books, memorize the titles and then go to the library), books.

I felt even better when I got in the car and "This is How We Do It" came on the top 40 station. It wasn't Light FM or anything--so I felt hip and happening (top 40 station) but comforted (song that reminds me of being young, fun and 20-something)

It must have been flashback lunch to have "This is How We Do It" on the Top 40 station- but how cool. Now I am listening to it in my head, and I'm right back out on the dance floor at the Met, complete with hoochie shirt and $2.10 (not my $2.10, but Mike's)raspberry kamikaze in a plastic cup in hand.

I love your Pandora side column!!! I'm listening to you Pixies station right now.

We have had 2 snow days (Tues and Wed), but we really had snow! 3 inches that stuck to the ground in Portland is a pretty big deal. Andy skied around the block, and we actually had to shovel! Who knows - maybe a third snow day in a row tomorrow????
