Joy and Pain, Sunshine and Rain

This weekend wasn't much to write about yet I have a feeling I can write a good paragraph or two as a recap.

Friday I signed up for Weight Watchers. Unfortunately, I signed up after I ate two creamed spinach kolaches for breakfast. I was already using 3/4ths of my day's points without even realizing it. It was time as my weight since Miss F has declined back to my pre-pregnancy weight only to rise back up--scarily close to the weight I was while carrying a baby! I'm hoping keeping track of my points will keep me in line. Friday I used 35 points. That's really, REALLY bad. Oh well, Saturday was another day, right?

Saturday we met our new friends the M Family for breakfast (again, planned before I knew I was becoming a points watcher so again, breakfast put me at 1/2 of my day's points) and went to the zoo with them (their son Mr. T is 10 days younger than Miss F). As we were leaving Mrs. M said, "Boy, Miss F is so well-behaved". Can I say KISS-OF-DEATH?!? Wonder Twin Powers Activate--Form of....a crab apple. By the time we reached the car, Miss F was in full-fledged fit mode (including the arched back and stiff appendeges). The afternoon was spent alternating between throwing a fit and whining. We met my aunt for dinner. She was in town for a Stampin' Up conference. We spoke briefly at my cousin's wedding a couple years ago but for the most part haven't kept in touch in years and years so I was looking forward to catching up. Miss F had other ideas. Either Mr. B or myself had to be outside the restaurant with her while she threw fits. I enjoyed being outside with all the young, cute, black dressed, strappy sandal wearing girls who looked at me with horror and thought, Gawd, I hope I never get that old. Le sigh. We all breathed a sigh of relief when she fell asleep in the car and even through the fits we had a nice time visiting with my aunt and eating Tex-Mex food. And, I had yet another 30+ point day. Very discouraging.

Today dawned a new day. Miss F seemed refreshed so we went on a walk with Mr. B and Sheba. Then I took off on a 2 mile run. We visited the P Family and Mr. A-to-the-P was a gracious host while Miss F was being shy. Miss F had a long nap and seemed in better spirits. As I finish typing this--I have 10.5 points left for dinner. I'm doing really good today. Whew. I was beginning to wonder if I could do this Weight Watchers business.

Today's Parenting Lesson--Parenting is one long example of "Do as I say, Not as I do". Example--Miss F was throwing her wooden blocks. I said, if you throw them again, they get put away. She threw one. In an effort to get them picked up and away quickly (because I was sticking to my guns on this), I, well, threw them all in a tub. Therefore--do as I say, not as I do.

Dear Jeny,
I really enjoyed Miss. F. and visiting with you and your hubby. The food was excellent Saturday night and I blew my Nutri-System diet. I am well trained by A. and L.in restaurant activities by toddlers. I feel like I have reconnected with you and your husband and got to meet my grand-niece.
Love,
Aunt Linda B.

Miss F. sure is cute and I am glad to know that my children are not the only ones that force a parent to take them out of a restaurant! Yes, a farm job sounds good.... When do you want to start?

Keep it up with the WW! Remember, each meal is a new opportunity, so don't give up on the whole day if you went overboard point-wise on one meal or snack.
