Not Big on Photos

We are really not big on photos in this family. I shouldn't say that...it's more like we love photos and we love looking at them and we wish we had more but in the making sure we have kids, diaper bag, snack, drink, bandaid, I.D., money, contact solution, etc. before leaving the house, we tend to forget camera. And yes, my phone takes some pretty decent photos but it's usually tucked into a pocket or at the bottom of my purse when anything good comes along. The 'no photos' is half of the reason why my blogging has suffered. I always feel the pressure to have photos.

The calendar turned to October yesterday and I already feel like I've been swept into the tidal wave that is fall festivities immediately into Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and then plop, tossed out all disheveled and with my pockets inside out, into January. I've started all the To-Do lists like holiday gift ideas and scheduled holiday card photos and Miss F's birthday plans and fall carnival duties and pumpkin patch visitation schedules and booked us on the Polar Express. I've stalked a yard art man and finally made a purchase in order to make decorating as easy as 1.) put giant wooden decoration in ground. I've come up with our holiday gift theme/donation as we like to do. Halloween costumes have been purchased. Whew. See what I mean by tidal wave....

The girls are doing well. Miss F, though I tried not to overschedule her, is in gymnastics, swim, dance and Spanish (but the latter two are done in school so it doesn't feel like its overscheduling). She is begging and pleading and telling everyone she knows that she's taking piano lessons (she is not) and I've found a neighbor to teach her but we may have to wait until gymnastics is over (being selfish, however, I like the gymnastics because McButter and I do Mommy and Me while Miss F does her class and I feel like two birds/one stone and it's good activity to boot). McButter can name every kid in her class, asks 'What's that', tells me to 'pu play' when the DVD in the car needs to be turned on, and is the official greeter on our walk to take Miss F to school. I like to think of all the smiles that come from someone on the way to work, maybe feeling a bit tired, maybe already gearing up for a bad day and then seeing this little shaggy haired and snaggled tooth person smiling and waving at them as they drive by.

Colin is the official greeter in our neighborhood. That is a nice thought, that M is making peoples' days brighter. I don't think the absence of photos should stop you from blogging. Us scholarly types are used to tomes without adornment! (And we love hearing about your goings-ons frequently, so if it is photos that are stopping you- fogedaboudit!)
