Miss F swam in her first 'swim meet' this weekend (the quotes are because it was time trials so she swam against her teammates but it had the look and feel of a meet so we're counting it). She swam the 25m freestyle and 25m backstroke and her coach told me she was the fastest 4 year old on the team (of which there are maybe five 4-year-olds but who is counting). She blew my socks off because she spends most of practice acting out "Barbie: A Mermaid Tale" or throwing fits because her goggles aren't on correctly. But when they said "On your mark, get set, bwah (that's the horn)", she hit the water
and went! She did stop on the backstroke because her friend in the next lane wasn't swimming and she was concerned about her but one of the timers got her going again and she still hit the wall 2nd
in her heat (and how sweet is it that she was concerned about her friend?). We are proud, proud parents.
