The weekend of December 5th to 7th we took the ol' camper out to Bastrop State Park about 2 hours from H-town. We went for 2 reasons--the first being that we wanted to get the camper out (or goal is every other month) and second that Bastrop State Park is near the town of Smithville where they filmed the movie "Hope Floats". Seeing as I'm a huge fan of that movie and we'd already been to Smithville once to tour the locations, this time we went to attend their Festival of Lights Parade as seen in the closing scene of the movie. When Sandra Bullock narrates the last lines about beginnings being scary, endings being sad but it's what is in the middle th

at counts you can see the parade in the background. While I was slightly disappointed in the daytime part of the festival, the parade was really cute and Miss F loved it.
In between our visits to Smithville, we hung out at the campground, hiked and Miss F got to play in the leaves and twigs to her hearts content. It was chilly (high 20s at night, mid-40s daytime) and we all slept bundled and in the same bed (Miss F has a habit of stripping off her PJs in the night and tried to do this the first night when it was 29 degrees out so I made her sleep where I could reach over and do a PJ check as needed throughout the night)
