Pumpkins and Faeries

Last Sunday (that would be the 12th), we made our annual pilgrimage to Dewberry Farms, a local pumpkin patch. It's a great little farm with a corn maze, petting zoo, giant slide made of PVC pipe (bumpy on the bum), hayride, and naturally pumpkins on the vine. Of course, it was far too warm to truly appreciate a nice, autumnal field trip (it was just shy of 90 degrees) but we always have fun and always come home with a couple pumpkins and a big bag of kettle corn. We took the annual picture of Miss F by the pumpkin measuring stick, too. Click here and here for years past. Notice we've gone from patting the pumpkin, to hugging the pumpkin to this year's carrying of the pumpkin.

This Saturday (that would be the 18th), we went to the Texas Renaissance Festival with my folks. The theme this weekend was 1,001 Dreams and was a faerie theme. Miss F had received a fairy costume as a birthday gift and she wore it nearly the entire time we were at the Festival. She truly enjoyed the compliments and interacting with the characters at the fair. She picked out a crystal necklace with unicorns, had her face painted with a unicorn and fell in love with a stuffed unicorn that she named, what else, Crystal. She was very much in her element at the Ren Fest. Faeries, play-acting, dress-up, kings/queens/knights, new age vibes= happy Miss F. She also continued her fascination with statues by becoming particularly attached to this pirate. Arrrrr!

A good time was had by all and the grown-ups came home and napped for an hour. Miss F, not so much but she instead crashed at 6:30 p.m. with a fever and chills. She seems to be well this morning but now I am the sicky.
