Busy Bee Family

Yes, yes, I know I've been negligent in my blogging. I apologize.

Before I get into updates, I want to say that I was thinking about the blog last night. I spoke with an old friend (old as in, longtime, dear friend not old as in well, old) last night and we got philosophical about friends and losing touch. I am so happy that I have a blog and that many of my dear, longtime friends have them, too. Why? Because we're all busy and life just gets in the way no matter how hard we try to not let that happen. The blogs are windows into our lives but are 'one time', sit down, quick and easy ways to communicate. I can't even tell you how much pleasure I get when I sit down and see that someone has posted a new blog. I love getting comments. I love leaving comments. I do, however, feel guilty that sometimes I can't write each and every one of you personally, that I don't pick up the phone and call more often and that sometimes, when you write me personally, I send a quick email saying "check my blog". In the grand scheme of it all, though, I think the blogs have kept my UMM gals in closer touch than ever. I have a few high school pals that blog, also, and then local friends, too, that live mere miles away but we all know that 1,000 miles or 20 miles that sometimes we see each other the same amount. So if you have a blog, keep it up. If you don't, consider getting one. It's cathartic. It's fun. It's a great way to keep in touch. It's those cute newsy Christmas letters all year long!

OK--so updates:

1. Work is getting better. I'm getting my stride.

2. I've planned Miss F's birthday party. Invites are made. I just have to decide if I go homemade (save money) or buy the food. It's a tea party. Get it, Tea for Two? 2nd birthday?!

3. Plans are falling into place for our neighborhood night out. I got the timeline down this weekend and am feeling more confident about this event.

4. Being webmaster of my Mom's Group is not as hard as I thought. Having to create a new webpage was a daunting task until I found googlepages and then it was a breeze! I created one for my neighborhood, too, plus one for work.

5. I'm still tired, but, I just keep thinking Edna St. Vincent Millay and her poem about burning the candle at both ends and the beautiful light it gives.

This weekend Mr. B and Miss F went to visit Nana and Grandpa. Mr. B has too many vacation days and took Friday off to head out of town (of course, looking back I wonder why we didn't use those vacation days this summer to go to MN or CA or somewhere as a family--this is what happens when you don't have a plan!!!).

Friday night I went for margaritas and Mexican food with a friend from my new job who is the neice of a friend from my neighborhood. It took a couple weeks for the puzzle pieces to fall into place and for us to realize we all knew one another. So out to happy hour/dinner we went. I got home in a tequila haze and watched "High School Musical 2" on the DVR.

Saturday I woke up at 6:30 a.m. but snoozed and lolled about in bed until 8 a.m. I walked the dog. I posted on Craigslist for some yard edgers we want to give away. I went to the fabric store, bought a printer, went to lunch (dim sum, yum!), went to Dream Dinners and made this month's meals, met Baby Rut just 1 week old (Mrs G to the R, you are the mom I want to be--relaxed, refreshed and realistic) and came home to quilt and watch "Because I Said So" (meh-but I knew it was going to be pretty light and fluffy but didn't expect it to be so not good--I mean, Lauren Graham and Diane Keaton should've saved it but they did not)

Today I am straightening the house, hope to hit some balls at the driving range and perhaps running a few more errands.

I leave you with this photo of Miss F who is now in underwear 100% of her waking hours (nap and nighttime are diapered still). She likes to put underwear on her stuffed animals, too.

Yes - I love the blogging too. I do find that I am a bit obsessive on checking to see if there are any new posts out there. I especially like all the pictures of the kids. They grow up so fast.

At least Miss F puts underwear on her stuffed toys. Hailey seems to have quite a few naked dolls. I wonder if I should be worried. Have a great week. - H

Ditto on being a blog lover!

I have to say that you are the reason we all have blogs, you were the first, thanks B!

Amen to the third power on the beauty of blogging and your pioneering this wonderful medium of communication for so many of us. Was talking to Jessica B about this exact topic just the other day. She started a blog last fall at my encouragement but has since abandoned it and feels guilty. I said to relax, that maybe blogging isn't her thing. We all have different interests and strengths and we make do with the talents we've been given. Some of us scrapbook, some quilt, some journal. Then again, some are like you and they do it ALL! Blogging definitely works best for me. My favorite part is making up post titles.

And thanks so much for the shout out. It's still early in the game, yet, and I certainly owe a lot of my sanity to the "support staff" of mothers and husband, but I'm feeling all of those things you mentioned and thrilled to be part of the 'new moms' club! Your admiration means a lot, goodness knows how much I have always admired Mrs. B!
