So I've been a bit MIA the past 2 weeks because it was the beginning of Inservice for the new school year. That means I've been in meeting, after meeting after training after training on the newest thing coming down the line in education (and honestly, it's all just renamed, repackaged and the same as it ever was). With only 1 day to work on 'stuff' in the library itself, well, let's just say I should be working on my library lesson plans and not sitting here blogging.
Last weekend we awaited the arrival of the hurricane and you all know how that played out...we are now eating months worth of pudding snack pack rations until the next hurricane watch when we'll go crazy and buy weird stuff all over again. We had a playdate, met friends for lunch and hosted friends for dinner.
This weekend we were very low-key. Mr. B put in an hour's labor at my new school's garden raising party (the old garden was destroyed by the new construction, and as a sidenote, so was the school secretary's house, and they're recreating the old garden anew). I chased Miss F around the playground. Then we came home and played around the house/yard. I went to Dream Dinners and came home with 36 servings of ready to pop in the oven, no muss, no fuss meals for the next couple weeks. Love it. We hosted our neighbors for dinner and met new friends (friends of theirs were in the 'hood and stopped by their house and we, in turn, invited to our house for pie!). After the neighbors left, Mr B and I enjoyed the last 1/2 of both "Dazed and Confused" and "The Water Boy" on T.V. We felt like the earth was aligned with Capricorn or something as we both got to see a part of our favorite movies.
Today we read the paper, watched part of "Sky High" (which was cute), built a fort out of chairs and a comforter, played in the sprinkler, washed the rubber animal toys, played T-Ball, put stuffed animals 'night-night' and Miss F is now napping, I'm procrastinating and Mr. B is toiling in the hot sun.
Miss F has decided to become an early riser again. 6 a.m. yesterday (Mr. B got up with her) and 5:52 a.m. today (but I was able to convince her to go back to bed for an hour). I don't know where this is coming from as this summer she slept 'til 7:30 a.m. and lately I've had to tear her out of bed to get to work/school on time (we leave the house at 6:50 a.m.). I guess she's "reset" her clock for weekdays but we need to reprogram her on weekends!!!
Students start tomorrow! Big Day!
