Happy 4th of July

Does anyone else throw their hands up and ask 'why me?' more than once a day? Seems like I do it a lot but perhaps that is why I joke that my middle name is Murphy, as in, Murphy's Law.

Our neighborhood does a parade for the kids--bikes, strollers and wagons are decorated, the constable and fire truck come and it's just a quaint bit of Americana that I have been looking forward to ALL YEAR. Guess what? It rained! Guess what? They did the parade anyways. So Miss F was both a spectator (we waited for it to come down the road and watched everyone go by) and a participant(then we joined in with her decorated wagon). It poured rain but everyone was in good spirits despite the rain. Well, except for Miss F. She got a bit cranky. I don't know why--one of us ran alongside her holding an umbrella so she wouldn't get wet.

After that adventure...including watching a water balloon fight and eating Otter Pops in the rain and then running home when the thunder/lightning came...we went to a neighbor's house for eats and drinks. Good food and Miss F played with all the 'new' (as in new to her) toys quite contentedly. And the rain poured on....

Last night we decided to make an attempt at watching fireworks. We decided to drive 30 miles north to The Woodlands (a Disney-esque, pre-fabricated, most planned planned community) because we were also going to get a Culver's custard. YUM! Drive up there and Culver's closed 30 minutes before we got there (see where Murphy's Law comes in). At this point Miss F is screaming for ice cream so we roll into the only place we could find: Jack in the Box. Thirty minutes later (!) we have quite tasty boysenberry shakes and the fireworks are visible from our car (yay). Miss F was both frightened and mesmerized adn liked to shout "Ah-Boom" with each firework. She stayed up until 11 p.m. !!!! Wouldn't sleep in the car just screamed "night-night" for the entire ride home.

Today we bought Miss F new shoes, rode on a carousel, played in an enchanted forest and watched kitties and puppies play (we went to the Mall, can you tell?)

Its STILL raining here in Houston....I head to Florida tomorrow for a wedding. Please, in the name of all that is holy, let there be light while I'm there!
