Not Another Teen Movie

Am I the only one who sees the absolute, sheer brilliance in this movie? I know it's silly but to truly 'get' this movie, you have to know what they're making fun of. It's like the Mark Twain of teen movies--full of parody and a bit of satire. Minute details in the back left corner of a scene are an homage to teen movies. The soundtrack is an homage to teen movies. Molly Ringwald in a cameo, is soooo teen movie. I can watch this movie over and over again and marvel at all the details they included. It may seem stupid, but satire has to go big. Imagine Saturday Night Live doing skits with thought and insight. It would be BORING. This movie is So funny. So many memories of favorite teen movies. I watch it all the time on TV but need to rent the DVD as I hear there is a way to watch it with pop-ups explaining what movie they are satiring at that moment. Love it.

We had a great weekend. I was part of a multi-family garage sale on Friday and Saturday. I did some 'paperchasing' on Friday afternoon for the adoption. Saturday was more garage sale and errands. Today I took Miss F to the zoo and we had a blast. She gave a lion a high-five (there was a teen in a lion suit). She is so proud and talks about "high-five, big lion" all night. She also touched an armadillo! Mr. B is working on getting our extra room (the one off the garage) ready to be made into a guest room in the next few months as our home is only 3 bedrooms and with a new addition sometime (sooner rather than later, we hope) we'll need somewhere for grandparents to stay! Tonight we had friends over for dinner. I made gnocchi with sun dried tomatoes and sausage. We had 'Redneck Strawberry Shortcake' for dessert. That's the recipe I used--seriously. You take a can of buttermilk biscuits (the kind that go 'pop' when you open 'em) and pull each biscuit apart. Dip both parts in melted butter and then through a bowl of sugar. Smash 'em back together and bake. There's your shortcake! Put strawberries and cream on top and yum-yum.

I head up for a quick visit up nort' this weekend. It has crept up on me--I haven't lost the 10 lbs I thought I would and don't know that I'll get to see many friends or family as it is such a quick trip. We hope to make it up again soon to see everyone!

Would you post or send me the recipe for Redneck Strawberry Shortcake?? I have to make it! I pretty much get the gist, but I'm not like RR- I NEED measurements, oven temp, baking pan details, etc. Thanks!
