The Real Shizz

No photos please. Miss F is already turning into a diva and fighting the papparazzi. Here she is after a run-in with sweet potato.

It's been almost a week since my last real post....but it gets that way when school begins.

Let's see...the students returned on Thursday. The day began with everyone, teachers, administration, 6-12th graders meeting in the theatre (this is a state of the art, amazing theatre and when they perform their winter musical, any local Houstonians may want to come and see a show). The theme was "Journeys" and as we filed in, the screen showed an airport Boarding screen saying that Emery Wein-Air was boarding for 2006-2007 School Year. Then they showed a clip from "Armeggedon" when Ben Affleck and crew are singing "Leaving on a Jet Plane". This lead to an entire montage of film clips of travel by air (i.e North By Northwest, Charlie and the glass elevator) set to John Denver's version of the song. Can I just say that I knew at that moment this would be a good year. They didn't choose Peter, Paul and Mary, oh no, they chose John Denver and all was good. When I thought it couldn't get any better it switched to Fozzie Bear and Kermit singing "Movin' Right Along" from the original "Muppet Movie" and then did clips of travel by car. At this point I'm moved. Truly moved. The rest of the 'opening ceremonies' included the student body president in front of a green screen giving the safety message including what to do with a sudden rise in 'peer pressure'. Too cute. Friday I enjoyed Ma'Mahad and Shabbatz (I think that is right). I think there's just something about the Jewish faith...it just seems so ancient and holy. Plus, they give out Challah bread (holla!) and it's right around the time I need a little snack. I enjoyed being a part of the traditions (cue song: Tradition!)

We went to dinner with my old 'team' from CME on Thursday night. Good to see everyone and we ate, drank and were merry....for tomorrow we may be in Utah...hahaha...I saw that on a t-shirt when I was about 9 and had to have my dad explain it. Friday night we had a Sam's Club run for diapers, wipes and formula. Life is just too exciting nowadays...Happy Hour? No thanks...We're going to Sam's Club.

On Saturday Mr. B traveled to his hometown for a bachelor party (hopefully nothing like the Tom Hanks movie) and Miss F and I ran errands. I introduced her to a woman's favorite place--the shoe store. She got a snazzy pair of Stride Rites. We shared Chinese Take Out and Miss F went to bed while I watched "Failure to Launch" (baaad movie, but Matthew M. is hawt). Miss F and I went to church for our first worship and then IKEA for our second worship today. The whole fam went to my school's Welcome Back Picnic tonight. We enjoyed kosher hotdogs and meeting the families of co-workers (lots of babies around Miss F's age). We were sweaty and bitten by fire ants. I guess that makes it a successful picnic.

Miss F is cutting her first tooth. FINALLY! She is addicted to grape flavored Tylenol. She is wacky on the junk, I tell ya. We'll have to send her to a ranch somewhere in California for detox one of these days.

Wasn't "Failure to Launch" awful? Yikes, sorry I forgot to warn you! We saw "Poseidon" last night on DVD and absolutely loved it! Not a dull moment, and we can not figure out why it was panned by the critics. You know I love me a good disaster flick!! Glad to hear your first day was so inspiring!
