In honor of it being summer and getting near my 2nd favorite holiday and the fact that I'm homesick right now. I am creating a list--Reasons why I love Minnesota/Wisconsin (I combine them since I lived in Hudson which is on the border of the two and I spent equal amounts of time in each state and yes, I know there is supposed to be a rivalry between the two states but that's like fighting about chocolate-chocolate chip and mint chocolate chip ice cream Both are tasty). These are in no order, just in a stream of consciousness/Falkneresque list. I'm sure I'll forget something, too.
Reasons Why I love Minnesota/Wisconsin
1. Leinenkugel's beer
2. My friends
3. Brisk autum
4. Cool summer
5. 10,000 lakes
6. Cabins on those 10,000 lakes (and cabins in Wisconsin, too!)
7. Memorial Day at a cabin on one of those 10,000 lakes
8. Bratwurst
9. Every town has a "Days" (i.e. Booster Days, Rhubarb Days)
10. Parades and festivals to go with above "Days"
11. Princesses crowned at above days
12. Floats with Princesses from above days and the "wave"
13. St Croix River
14. Mall of America
15. Fried Cheese Curds--the unfrozen, fresh ones
16. Loons
17. Greenest green grass
18. Bluest blue skies
19. Strapping, ruddy faced Norwegian men playing hockey
20. Minneapolis
21. 1st Ave
22. The spoon and cherry sculpture
23. St. Paul
24. St. Paul Saints baseball team
25. MN State Fair
26. My family farm (40 acres for sale in Spring Valley if anyone is looking)

34. The great leg workout from poses used to keep from falling on the ice
35. Cars with plugs to plug in for heat
36. Being able to leave your car running while you go into the store (I think that's illegal now but it sure was nice to have the car all toasty when you got back in)

38. The circus parade (hahahaha Cynthia)
39. Laura Ingalls lived in both states during the Little House books
40. Clean air
41 Garrison Keillor
42. Dairy Queens that are only open in the summer
43. Buca de Beppo (OK, so it's a chain now and I have one here in H-town but it started up there)
44. Culver's (again, a chain and I have one about 45 minutes away but they're everywhere up there)
45. Caribou Coffee (don't have 'em down here, boo!)
46. Perkins (bread bowl salad, hold the salad, with lots of ranch dressing)
47. Leinie's
48. Leinie's
49. Leinie's
50. Leinenkugals
(I've talked to distributors but there is no hope of getting Leinie's in Houston anytime soon. It's summer, I want a Leinie's and a brat in a beer garden at a festival with a Rhudabega Queen)
Anything else? Help me out but don't make me too homesick!

You forgot THUNDERSTORMS! We had a doosie last night. Thought my car was going to be crushed in around me. Winds rocking the entire vehicle back and forth. Ahhh, summer!
You also forgot the MN State Fair!! Sweet Aunt Martha's cookies, corn roast, pork chop on a stick, YUMMY!
Buca's is going under unfortunately. 3 of the execs have been indicted for funneling money to their bank accounts and paying for strippers. Good ol' Minnesota nice!
Also, I see the State Fair on #25, but perhaps it requires its own list being that its incredibly awesome and all.
