Bite Club

The first rule of Bite Club, do not talk about Bite Club.....Miss F woke up with some bites on her face. We assumed they were mosquito bites and went about our business. While I was at Kroger, I stopped by the pharmacy and asked if there was anything over-the-counter that I could put on the bites. The pharmacist says, "Um, you better call your pediatrician. Those are really bad and I don't think they're mosquito bites". So, we're off to the Dr. at 5:20. I get the award for calling the nurse line the most!

While I pass the time waiting to find out if my child has a flesh eating disease or perhaps these really are just mosquito bites, I thought I'd type up one of my recipes using Ramen Noodles, as promised in a blog below.

Warm Noodle Salad
5 strips bacon, cooked [I use the pre-cooked kind if I'm in a hurry]
2 pkg Ramen Noodles, chicken flavor
1 pkg Coleslaw Mix
1 bag (10 0z) Spinach
1/3 cup red wine vinegar
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tsp dijon mustard

Cook the bacon and crumble. Set aside.
Break each package of noodles in 4 sections. Cook as package directs then drain. Reserve seasoning packets.
Put cabbage, spinach and noodles in a big bowl.
Put vinegar, oil, mustard, plus 1/4 cup water and contents of 1 seasoning packet in a bowl. Whisk to blend. Pour over salad. Add crumbled bacon and toss to mix and coat.

I LOVE this recipe. It's cheap, easy and it is warm but not a hot meal which is perfect for an H-town summer night.

I will report back on the bite situation.

I hope the bites turn out to not be a big deal. I have a friend who's little boy really swells up when he gets bit, sometimes he has to go on antibiotics because he develops an infection. Because those bites are so close together, could they be spider bites?

Dear Jeny,
Your cousin, Johnny B., had similar looking bites when little. I hope it is not serious. Just back from Minneapolis and visiting your cousins. Stephanie's graduation party was on Sunday. I got my Minnesota thunderstorm. Two more trips there this summer in July and September. I loved the smell in the air before the storm.
Love,
Aunt Linda
