There's No Place Like Home, Part II

A Miss F update before I go into the past week--she's an eating machine. She loves squash, sweet potatoes and applesauce. She is like clockwork these days with her schedule but she still hates to nap. We just know it's naptime and have figured out the trick to getting her to sleep--it's the same one that gets me to sleep, too--reading a long book (I was reading too short of books and discovered she needs a little more wind down time). She also jams to a little Kenny Loggins "Return to Pooh Corner" CD and likes to have a soft blanket in her hand. Of course, we sprung ahead and now the schedule today is kaput and chaos as already insued this A.M.

What a week---it's been the week of opportunities and possibilities which I love, but it's also been a week of uncertainty, which I am not so good at dealing with. I had my first jury summons in 31 years. I was Juror #50 and if selected would have found myself on a Grand Jury for an indictment of aggrevated sexual assault of a child under 14. I wonder why they didn't pick me?!?! It took 8 hours, though, before any of the panel was chosen or dismissed. I feel proud that I did my civic duty and they paid me $6--with parking and lunch I'm still down $10. A small price to pay for our freedoms, I guess.

If you don't already know this--my commute to my current job is 22 miles. In Houston, you have to double your mileage to figure on the time it takes you to drive there so 45 minutes. And that isn't even with the extras like construction and accidents. So I'm looking for a new job, closer to home. This week was job possibility central. First off, I interviewed at the Emery-Weiner school earlier this week and have already heard that they'd like a 2nd interview with me. It's a private Jewish-faith based school. It just kinda fell in my lap so I said that God was sending me a sign. Well, I think Jesus wants to get involved now because Duchesne Academy, a private, Catholic, all girl school contacted me on Friday and asked me to send in my resume. Either way, religion is suddenly in my life for sure! I'm also looking at public schools but there haven't been any opportunities as of yet.

Our house went on the market yesterday (if you've never seen my house and want to see the virtual tour, email me and I'll send you the link...it felt weird to post it on here since it gives our address and all). We've already had 3 showings and 2 second showings in a day's time. We, however, have not found a house. Well, we found a house we liked on the internet but it already had an option on it before we could get to it. Then, it looked like that option might fall through so we went to see it. All week I'd joked that I just wanted to walk into a house and "know" it was right--that I needed some kind of 'sign'. I even said I'd like a vision from Our Lady of Fatima to appear. So we walk up to this house and there is a statue of the Virgin Mary. Eerie, I tell ya, eerie. Was that the sign I asked for? Maybe not--It appears the deal is back on with the previous buyers so we're back to square one at this point. There are a few more homes coming on the market this week that may work.

So here we are--lots of possibilities but lots of uncertainty.
