Have a Nice Day
Daisy had hoped she'd be going to the Bon Jovi concert and wanted a safe, secure ride.
Bon Jovi Rules! We had a great time at the concert. Our seats were pretty good--we were 13 rows from the floor. As the stage lights went out and the 'whoo's started, Mr B and I noticed that the people on the floor were turned away from the stage and that camera-phones were being used in great numbers....what could that be? Well, Mr. Jon Bon Jovi decided to start the concert on a pedestal, on the floor, exactly 13 rows in front of Mr B and I. He was so close, I almost wet myself. He looked good in his leather pants and leather shirt. Mmmmm, mmmm. Richie Sambora, on the other hand, looked a little puffy. I think he's been crying and hitting the bottle due to the whole Heather Locklear divorce and all. Still, he played a good show and brought out the two handled guitar a few times. Love that.
They played all their hits and I realized that Bon Jovi has been there for me for over 20 years. They were there with "Runaway" when I thought it was cool to record the radio on my tape recorder. I always got the DJ talking over 1/2 the song but it didn't matter. Then, "Living on a Prayer" came around when I thought I was a hard rockin', rebellious pre-teen (but I didn't want to be too rebellious, I needed 'hair band light'). I was young enough then to not even wonder if the album title "Slippery When Wet" might be a double entendre. Bon Jovi was with me for my first dances, first crushes--"I'll be there for you" and "Never Say Good-bye". Later, when my friends and I needed a cool catch phrase, Mr Bon Jovi gave us "Blaze of Glory" so we could say "Shot Down!" for anything we deemed unworthy. Then the boys cut their hair and grew up with me and as a present, gave me a song to sing and use as a mantra for living life to the fullest--"It's My Life"--like Frankie said, I did it my way! And now, when there are days that I'm tired of traffic, bad drivers, cranky co-workers and the like, they've given me a song to pump me up--when the world gets in my face, I say 'Have a Nice Day'. So thanks, Bon Jovi, for being there for me and getting me through the good and the bad times.
One thing I noticed--as Bob Dylan said, the times, they are a'changin'. Instead of lighter flames for the slow songs, everyone opened up their flip cell phones and swayed with the LED lights glowing. How is it that I could feel 13 again and like I'm getting old all in the same minute?!
