Much like the logic puzzle about the grain, chicken and fox and only one boat to take them across the river, I found myself in a similar situation after going to the grocery store yesterday. In the logic puzzle, you have to take the chicken across first, then go back and get the feed. When you drop off the feed, you bring the chicken back. Then you pick up the fox and take him across and leave him with the feed (he won't eat it). Then you bring the chicken back over.

Well....I was puzzled....do I a) leave Miss F in the car while I unload groceries into the house or do I b) unload Miss F into the house and then unload the groceries or c) unload Miss F and some groceries, carry Miss F back to the car and unload more, carry her back with me to unload the final round. Tough call. Any suggestions from any of my been-there-done-that moms?

Right now I leave my chickadees in the car and unload everything, then get them out. Our garage is attached to the house so I am never very far from them. If you have an alley, I would still probably leave them in the car, just make sure to take out the keys so that no one steals the car with them in it while you are making a trip to the house. I know that's kind of paranoid but that's us Moms for ya. Since Miss F is still in one of those infant carriers, you could also bring her in and leave her in the house while you unload. I would not recommend carrying her with you, you will ruin you back.

I bring Mr. W in the house first and set him up to play. I myself am too paranoid to leave him even without the keys in the car. I bet some thieves are quick hot-wire-ers. Our garage isn't attached however so it'd be open season. I figure if I've babyproofed well enough to go to the bathroom then I've babyproofed well enough to bring in groceries.
