The Gift for the Person who has everything

As the years have passed, I find it increasingly hard to give unique gifts and I've become more aware that, at least for me, I like practical gifts over 'stuff'. My parents lived in their RV for a couple years and it really trained me to give them things that aren't, well, things because they had limited space. This year, I wondered what I might get them beyond the great gift card shower we usually bestow upon them. The gift came to me when Miss F asked for a meerkat from Santa. I went to the Houston Zoo's website and found that you could feed the meerkats! Perfect! Well, except you had to be 13 to do it so yes, my folks could receive it as their gift as we watched behind glass and held on to a fit-throwing four year old as she watched her dream happen to another. Lo and behold I find out you can feed the giraffes at any age! Problem solved.

Yesterday, we presented my parents with their early Christmas gift. A behind the scenes tour of the giraffes. We enjoyed feeding the giraffes and learning more about the herd at the Houston Zoo. Well, except for when Miss F cried because Papa's watch scratched her. But I think it makes the photo a Christmas classic. Merry Christmas from the family!
