Since Memorial Day weekend is generally the 'kick off' to summer, I made sure that our guest got some good pool time to soak up the rays. OK, not really. But she did get to dip in Miss F's pool/water park (as we like to call it).
Mr. B departed on Thursday for Duluth, MN to await the rest of the manly men as they made their way to Ely, MN and then off into the Boundary Waters....no cell reception, no motorized vehicles, no thanks!
Friday morning dawned bright and early and with me discovering I had a 102.5 fever! Yay! I was able to drag myself out of bed and prepare Miss F for daycare, drive her to daycare and then take Miss M and myself to the Dr. in a Box. As I only had fever and no other flu/cold symptoms, the nurse deducted that, as a nursing mother, I had mastitis. BUT...they couldn't treat me for it. So...I came home to call the OB-Gyn only to discover a bat (the animal) hanging on Miss F's outdoor toybox right outside the door to the house. After a few frantic calls, I discovered this was NOT normal and Animal Control came out to take my bat (yes, I had to sign as the owner of the possibly rabid bat) away for testing. I was able to get in with the OB and yes, I had mastitis. All this before NOON. It never fails that when Mr. B is out of town, things get a little interesting!
Cynthia arrived on Friday evening after all the excitement of the day. We took her for Cuban food at our favorite hole-in-the-wall and took her home for a wild and crazy night of bathtime and storytime. On Saturday we went to the Museum of Natural Science to see the butterflies and dinosaur bones. Then off to Nico Nico's for gyros, on to the Chocolate Bar for some goodies and then to Miller Outdoor Theatre to watch the annual Memorial Day Motown Revue. Sunday found us at the Astros game (they lost really, really badly) and then BBQ dinner and a viewing of "The House Bunny" after the kiddos went to bed (cute movie, BTW). Monday we headed to Space Center Houston for a tour of Mission Control and to view the Saturn rocket. Cynthia got her Ragin' Cajun on for dinner and then, exhausted, we watched "Surf's Up" while the kids slept.
We had a great weekend...busy, but good. I think I sent Cynthia home thankful that it was going to be nice and quiet there (did I mention Miss F is in the dreaded 3-year old "Why?" stage? That Miss M needs to cry and screech a little before she'll go to sleep? That Miss F is a little Cliff Claven and starts each sentence with "Don't you know that.....")
