Mamma Mia!

After the success of the "Sex and the City" night and serendipitously seeing the preview for this movie before said SATC movie, I planned a "Mamma Mia" night.

We began our evening with gyros and other Greek delights (including the honey balls--I believe, technically they're loukoumades) at Niko Niko's. We proceeded to the movie and then ended the night at Byzantio, a Greek bar, where we shared a shot of Ouzo and took turns shouting 'Opa!' just to keep with the theme of the evening. Then, we watched some bellydancing, ate a bit of hummus and Greek meatballs and were on our way home by 11 o'clock. Work night and all, you know.

If you don't already know this, "Mamma Mia:The Movie" is based on the musical "Mamma Mia". It is comprised of all ABBA songs. It takes place in Greece before a young girl's wedding. Meryl Strep is good and she sings quite well. Pierce Brosnan on the other hand, while nice to look at, is horrid at singing. Kinda ruined the mood a time or two. Still, if you like musicals. Or if you like cheesy movies. Or if you love ABBA. Or if you just want to go out with the girls--get you some greek food and go see this movie.

I'm with you on the Pierce singing, brutal. Everytime he was about to break into song my sister in law and I would yell "OH NO, NOT AGAIN". It was funny.
