November 1st at last, at last!

I'm back! Ready to blog again except I haven't had time to upload pictures. I truly thought I would go back and blog the entire month of October but I can't remember what I did yesterday much less 3 weeks ago.

So, here are the bullets of an October in the life of a B Family

  • Pumpkin Patch--visited a pumpkin farm about 1 hour from Houston with friends and their children. Went on a hay ride, got lost in a corn maze and ate lots of kettle corn. We suspect they got the pumpkins from the local grocery and just threw them in the field but that's just because we're cynical
  • Arsenic and Old Lace--Mr. B and I had a date night and went to see Arsenic and Old Lace at the Alley Theatre. We met friends for dinner beforehand and a good time was had by all.
  • Miss F's 2nd Birthday--As blogged below, we hosted a birthday "Tea for 2" for Miss F. It was a great party and I loved not having it at my house. Miss F received a really special gift (or actually, it was special to me). A few weeks ago, while at a friend's house, I saw that her daughter had a book that I remembered having as a child. I remember it because it was the book that planted the adoption seed in my head. It was all about babies and my favorite was the Asian baby in her kimono. This friend gave Miss F the very same book for her birthday and when I asked Miss F to point our her favorite baby, she pointed to the one in the kimono.
  • Neighborhood Night Out--torrential rain the night before the shindig, we lost power for several hours, etc. The night of the event was hot and muggy but no rain. I had 2 bouncy houses for the kids, I had local high school students volunteer to run carnival games (penny toss, duck pond) and the local fire truck showed up. Mr. B grilled hot dogs and Miss F was raised by a village that night (we kept losing her but someone always had her safe and sound--neighbors, firemen, high school kids). It was a big success and a lot of fun.
  • I increased book sales at my book fair by 110%. I worked really hard, stayed open late, worked a Saturday to have it open at the school's Carnival and it really paid off. I'm exhausted, though.
  • In between there were PTA meetings, playdates, birthday parties, Zoo Boo, daycare carnival, school carnival, vendor night (shopping!) and more things than I can remember.

As of a week ago my November calendar was clear--then I got an Evite or two, remembered a book club meeting, and a civic club meeting and a birthday party. There's math and science night at school, too. It's nothing like October, though. I can't believe I lived to tell about it.
