Weak from the Weekend

Friday night I was invited to 'sub' for Bunko. I had a good time but am not very good at Bunko. I think it's all in the wrist to get the dice to roll right. I did win the draw, though, so I got my $5 back! Plus I was fed, wined and enjoyed some girl commaraderie.

Saturday found the B Family and the R Family heading out to Caldwell to the Kolache Festival. We discovered that the Pilot can fit 4 adults and 3 carseats fairly comfortably and that Miss F and Mr. W get restless after an hour in a car--even with the DVD playing "Little Einsteins" and/or "The Muppet Show".

We enjoyed the small-town festival. There was a Queen of Slovakia or something and many of the 'native' (Czech) dress involved slouchy boots from the 80s. Who knew that historically, and in their native dress, the Czech were so fashion forward? I ate a sausage on a bun, a shave ice, kettle corn, cherry lemonade, Shiner Bock beer, water and naturally, kolaches. I would've had a friend Oreo or Twinkie but everyone else groaned at the thought and I didn't want to appear greedy. No one has been to the MN State Fair so they didn't understand the eat your way through concept. Miss F enjoyed playing on and around antique tractors, chasing Mr. W up a hill and discovering a lady bug on my arm. She didn't enjoy the port-a-potty experience.

After arriving home from our adventure, Mr. B and I took Miss F to a friend's house and went on a date. We saw "Doubt" at the Alley Theatre (first of our season ticket season). Quite a good show--it won a Tony awhile back while on Broadway. Next month is "Arsenic and Old Lace' with Dixie Carter starring. Woot!

Today we hung around the house, played outside and inside, ate Popeye's chicken and tried to get ready for the work week. I still have to go to Office Max, drop off film to be developed and I'm delivering a meal to a mom in my neighborhood that just delivered #2 (my neighborhood mom's group provides 2 weeks of meals when you have a baby) I hope to make dinner for my own family sometime this evening--because I have Dream Dinners in my freezer, I am confident we won't go hungry.

Grrrr! My computer very often does not cooperate with my desire to post comments!

I totally wanted to go to the kolache festival this weekend after reading about it in the paper the other day, but I get all puffy and my BP spikes when I'm out in the heat for too long. I think the baby is having a great time mocking me and my cravings for traditional Czech pastries and fried county fair goodies. I would have absolutely eaten a fried Oreo with you, BTW-- I am a firm believer in the "eat your way across the midway" philosophy.
