Back in Black

Whew....that's a good way to sum up the past 2 weeks.

We flew to D.C. on March 30th. Miss F decided not to sleep at all and kept busy watching videos and trying to eat the headphones. She cried a bit on our descent but was a fair flyer and showed that yes, she can stay up 'til midnight if she feels like it.

Highlights of Washington D.C.--Moonlight tour of the monuments, Library of Congress, Air and Space Museum, American Indian Museum, Museum of Natural Science, National Zoo (pandas!), Metro trains, giant escalators, White House (see picture), Capitol, Supreme Court, walking, lots of walking, crab cakes and my favorites--the Postal Museum (so cool to see how the mail works) and the International Spy Museum (Deception is reality). We also were able to meet up with the woman I student taught under in England, over 10 years have past since we've seen each other. It was so nice to catch up with an old friend. We enjoyed time with my parents and walked until we couldn't walk anymore. I came home 2 pounds lighter than I left and I ate crab cakes and chocolate malts the whole time! We thought this mailbox was really cute. It was right in front of the Supreme Court.

We had 1 day to do laundry upon our return before heading off to D'Hanis to visit with Mr. B's folks. I came down with a funk of some sort and was miserable but Miss F and Mr. B had a nice Easter. Of course, it was 35 degrees! A chilly Easter was had by all. Miss F enjoyed her first Easter Egg Hunt.

Upon our arrival home, I had 2 days to grocery shop, do laundry, cook a casserole for the orphans (Mr B and Miss F) and then I headed to San Antonio for the Texas Library Association Conference. I love this yearly event--it's like going to Hollywood and having an all-access pass to your favorite stars. I met a bunch of authors of whom I am a huge fan and the publishers give out free, advanced readers copies of books (I must have 50 of 'em, mostly YA but I do have my hands on the newest James Patterson book before anyone else can get it--HA!) I enjoyed my 3 days in San Antonio and arrived in H-Town late last evening.

We've already been to the Children's Museum this morning and Miss F is currently napping and I plan to join her as I still have a bit of the funk mentioned above. Here's a photo of Miss F from a few weeks back....she's a good California girl eating California avocados made into guacamole.

Whew!

I'm so glad you're back!!! I've been going through The B Family blog withdrawal! What a whirlwind! It sounds absolutely fabulous to me- the one who always wants to be where I'm not. Welcome back!
