Macy's Parade on a Neiman Marcus Budget

We went to the Big D (and I do mean Dallas) this past weekend. We were so lucky to meet the twins D&K and hang out with our old (by that I mean, dear) friends. We stayed at Amykins house while she recovers from surgery in El Paso. We visited with Miz Woolf and her fella; Baby J and her brood and of course, the Smittys from Louisville (or the friends formerly known from Dallas) on Saturday. Our newlywed pals cooked us breakfast on Sunday and then we whirlwinded our way back home.

One of the highlights of the weekend was the Neiman Marcus Children's Parade. It was like Macy's parade but on Neiman Marcus' budget (which ain't small, I'm sure). Imagine the Macy's balloons at 1/18th scale. We had quite an adventure riding the light rail and braving the cold (and for all you Minnesotans, it was cold...maybe 35 degrees in the sun!). While Miss F is still a bit too young to fully take in the parade, she had some sense that something wonderful was going on. This photo was snapped as an old-fashioned milk truck drove by. Santa, Spiderman, giant balloon-sized Chilly Willy the Penguins and her favorite was the milk truck.

It was so great to see our friends and to realize how far we've come in the past 5 years! Husbands, houses, kids, jobs....wow.

I have a meme I've been meaning to write. It's 101 goals in 1,001 Days (which is a bit shy of three years). I don't have time to sit down and right out all 101 but here are a few. I'll add to them before the New Year:

1. Travel to Washington, D.C.
2. Run a 10K
3. Make a quilt for my bed
4. Learn Needlepoint
5. Play Scrabble (I never have!)
6. Take a ballet class
7. Visit Stokes in Oregon
8. Visit Seattle
9. Visit Vancouver
10. Pay off the Pilot
11. Put photos in an album
12. Go skiing
13. Read Wuthering Heights (I never have)
14. Drink Leinenkugals
15. File everything in the big, white, filebox in the office

Yeah! I made #7!!! You could combine #7,8, and 9 into one giant trip to the NW... We both have summers off, ya know. We have a nice guest bed and even a small nursery-type room, too! I love the pics of Miss F!

Miss F is so cute, with a look of wonderment on her face. I'm sure you'll complete goal #14 much sooner than some of the others. I've never played Scrabble either- maybe we can play each other.
