Decent Proposal
This is my version of the shot of Demi Moore rolling in the money in Indecent Proposal. Instead, I have Miss F rolling in all the free books I obtained at the TX Library Association Conference this week. Not only are they free, they're advanced copies. I feel like I have something no one else has (except for all the librarians that picked them up along with me). Miss F is admiring her signed copy of Froggy Gets Dressed. Very popular with the elementary crowd because every book mentions 'underwear' at least once.
The TXLA Conference was a blast. Julie Andrews was the opening speaker. She was wonderful but my favorite part was the montage of her work that was shown before she took the stage. There were authors galore there for book signings and talks. While I'm all about the Hollywood scene, and would swoon were I to get close to Patrick Dempsey but I found myself swooning over the authors. I got back up to speed on YA Lit. and am ready to face the 6th-12th graders next year.
We did 1/2 of the closing on our new house on Friday. It funds on Monday so we get the keys on Monday. There were so many things to sign--I tried to check to see if there were any pacts with the devil or if my next child goes to Rumplestiltskin.
Miss F had a good week. She's started to make an attempt at the 'rasberry' sound--whatever it is, it's quite rude at times. She also tells us stories involving 'Ba' who goes to 'Da' to 'Ga'. She's definitely decided to be like her mother in the "I'll show you" category. I think the Dr. will be pleased at the next appointment. She has also begun pushing herself around backwards--not on purpose, she wants to go forwards but she's still moving around a bit. We're thinking of sticking Swiffer on her belly so she can mop the floor for us. She, on the other hand, is very frustrated as she tries to get to Daisy and the harder she tries, the further she is from the cat.
